Stripes Don’t Bite

Hello darlings! I hope you’ve been having the best summer ever. For the past week or so, it has been quite hot and humid in Upstate New York. This is why I decided to do an outfit post on something that is light and casual.

Lately, there has been quite an obsession when it comes to buttons and zippers that trail down the center of skirts. This trend hasn’t died down since last winter when I rocked it in Venice. I’ve seen the button down skirts mostly made out of suede material for the upcoming fall season. When I saw this charming stripe skirt, I had try it on. I found it when I was looking through Aerie’s clearance bins. You’d be surprised what you can find when you’re digging through a bin of marked down items. I tried it on and was instantly infatuated with it. I particularly love the stretchy waistband and the nautical bow.

Since it was so humid, I decided to pair it with this extremely simple tank top.  If it wasn’t so hot I could easily see this skirt paired with a white shirt with a huge lobster print in the center. I could also see it with a crimson red shirt to play off the olympics that have just ended. I would also love to pair it with a navy shirt and a gold anchor. Perhaps we will see this skirt make an appearance again so I can show you all of these different combinations.

As for the shoes, you know I’ve been obsessing over these Steve Madden lace up sandals. If I’m not working it seems as if these shoes are glued to my feet. They’re so comfortable and versatile it’s hard not to wear them with every outfit. Don’t worry, fall is coming up soon and I’ll have to switch up my shoe game.

Here are five other shirts that would work perfectly with this skirt.

What do you think about the button down skirts? Do you think they’ll stay a fashion staple this upcoming season or will it fade out? Personally, I hope it stays because I think it makes your body look slimmer. Plus, I’m a sucker for little details in outfits.

As always,
