12 Netflix Shows You Need to Watch This Fall

It is finally that perfect time of the year where you can crawl underneath the covers and no one will judge you. Okay, maybe they will but I certainly won’t. After I get home from work I do one of three things… I go to the gym, work on my blog, or I watch Netflix. I’m a junky when it comes to a good, mindless show. With that said, I’m a notorious binge watcher so if you have any other shows for me to watch let me know in the comments down below. For now, these are my top 12 Netflix shows.

Instead of just listing my favorite episodes I figured I’d give them a rating for the plot, characters, and style. The ranking is from 1-10, 10 being the best score.

Scandal: Plot 10, characters 9, style 10.

If political drama with a strong woman is your thing… this show is definitely for you. My brother’s girlfriend and I would DVR the episodes and watch them together when we both had time. Olivia Pope is a strong character who fixes political scandals from top political.  This insane show will make you think about how corrupt politics can be.

Thirteen Reasons Why: Plot 10, characters 10, style 6.

When I was in high school, I wrote a book report on Thirteen Reasons Why. I was reluctant to watch the series because I was worried they were going to misconstrue the idea of suicide. Luckily, the screenwriters did an incredible job that pointed out all of the different layers that come with suicide. This show should definitely be watched with hesitation for some, but it can be an extreme eyeopener for others.

How to Get Away with Murder: Plot 10, characters 9, style 7.

If you guys read my podcast post then you probably predicted murder coming up on this list. The plot of this show keeps you on your toes with every twist and turn. This extremely intense college course pushes five college students to their breaking point. The series shows the twisted idea that anyone can be turned in to a villain.

Gossip Girl: Plot 10, characters 10, style 10.

I’m not someone who watches shows more than once because it will not hold my attention long enough. With that said, I’ve watched this series three times. That is how brilliant this show is. The series shows a dramatic hierarchy the elite classes in New York City. Each character has an insane personality that has many, many layers. The screenwriters, cast, and costume designers did an incredible job creating a series that captivates the audience with every plot.

Grey’s Anatomy: Plot 9, characters 9, style 4 (doesn’t apply).

You best believe a Shonda Rhymes series is on here three times. I grew up watching Grey’s Anatomy with my mom on Thursday nights. That was when I was in fifth grade. Looking back, some of the content was probably not suitable for a fifth grader, but nonetheless, I loved watching this epic, medical drama. The only reason I did not give the character section a perfect score is because my favorite characters keep dying. I’m a little bitter about that. Warning: this show will make you ball your eyes out.

The 100: Plot 9, characters 10, style/costumes 10.

Out of every show listed on this list, this is by far my favorite. I usually like shows where I can mindlessly look and listen to while I play on my phone. With that said, this show is definitely not one where you can play on your phone during the episodes. Every episode that comes out I’m on the edge of my seat. The characters in this show are put into situations where I don’t even know how I would react. For people who like Game of Thrones, I think you would fall hard for this sci-fi drama.

Vampire Diaries: Plot 8, characters 10, style/costumes 8.

Who doesn’t love a weird, sci-fi movie? This show is definitely intended for high school students during the Twilight movie craze. Regardless, I somehow was sucked into this world recently. I’m on the second season and I like it so far. I oddly like the different plot line. Plus, this show is getting me in the festive mood for Halloween.

Comedy isn’t my favorite thing to watch only because I weirdly like crying when I watch shows. With that said, I’m going to include the category “comedy” to show how funny the jokes are.

Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce: Plot 8, comedy 9, characters 9, style 10.

I’ve never felt so uncomfortable watching a main character. This is probably the only show where you can find me cringing at how awkward and selfish the main character acts. However, I love the friend dynamic in this show because the girls really pull each other up during difficult times. I’ve never been in a divorce but I could still relate to the characters’ struggles.

Shameless: Plot 10, comedy 9, characters 10, style 3.

If you had to watch one show on this comedy list, watch this one. You’ll be glued to the screen. The humor is pretty vulgar but if you can get past that you’ll love this show. The characters are so honest and true that you can’t help but love them. Plus, there are some crazy plot twists in this show.

Friends from College: Plot 7, comedy 9, characters 10, style 10.

I really liked this show in the beginning but towards the end the plot was very repetitive. It has characters like Keegan-Michael Key and Cobie Smulders so you know each joke is delivered perfectly. This show is perfect for a great laugh but not perfect for a good plot.

Parks and Rec: Plot 9, comedy 10, characters 10, style 7.

The dynamic of characters in this show is fantastic. Leslie Knope always tries to brighten up everyone’s day with her weird mix of words and happy attitude. If I had to transform into any character it would be Leslie because of how optimistic and persistent she is. Watch this show and you’ll be blissfully happy.

Orange is the New Black: Plot 10, comedy 8, characters 10, style (doesn’t apply).

Like Shameless, this show is a little vulgar. The jokes are pretty cruel but the characters are so great that you’ll forget. I particularly liked this show because it is set in a different scenery than other shows. Even though the characters are criminals you can’t help but love them and feel bad for them. The screen writers did a fantastic job making the characters relatable.

Fall Nail Polish Essentials

Fine, I give up. I’m obsessed with painting my nails. Everyone has their little tick and this one is mine. I can picture my roommates and close friends fist pumping in the air like John Bender in the Breakfast Club. I finally admitted it. For those who don’t know, I paint my nails on average 2-3 times a week… sometimes more depending how stressed I am. I admit, its a pretty sick obsession. As soon as I see one little chip of nail polish that just doesn’t look quite alright… the rest of the polish will come off. I mean, I never said I was perfect.

As a result of my sick obsession, you can be sure that I’m always on the hunt for a good polish. I’m normally a strict OPI girl, but after one shade from Essie caught my eye I decided to expand my horizon. CVS was having a great deal at the time that was buy three get one free. Normally, I’d just shop through TJ.Maxx or Marshall’s and find a discounted polish, but I was itching for a splurge session.

Fall Nail EssentialsFall Nail Essentials

After picking up multiple nail polishes and putting them back, I decided on Petal Pushers, Winning Streak, Angora Cardi, and Barre with Me. I would love to meet the person who designs names for nail polishes. If you’re ever lacking inspiration for an Instagram caption go to the OPI or Essie website for some inspiration. Trust me, they’re literal geniuses.

Petal Pushers: If you’re not getting the biker gang vibe from the name just picture yourself wearing this color riding a bike through crisp, fallen leaves. Okay, so maybe I’m the only one that thinks that kind of stuff when I buy nail polish but whatever. This color is great due to being a lighter version of an otherwise dark color.

Winning Streak: This color is my cup of tea. I’m a big fan of rich, dark colors like this one. It is the perfect mix of purple and grey to create this eery color perfect for Halloween.

Angora Cardi: This is my go to if I’m going for something a little daring on my nails. I’m not a huge fan of bright red colors on my nails because my nails so tiny, but I love this mix of purple, grey, and pink. It’s bold enough to say “oh, hello” but calm enough to be like yeah-please-leave-me-alone. My kind of polish.

Barre with Me: The name on this one got me because I recently tried barre and it was the definition of d-i-s-a-s-t-e-r. During the routine, I felt like I was going to die and I was sore for days later. Regardless of the near death experience, I fell in love with this color. I normally don’t go for light colors but this color was the perfect mix of nudes and feminine pinks. I’ve been wearing this color the most out of the four.

What colors are you rocking this fall? Let me know in the comments down below.

Recap: Fall Fashion 2016

Hello darling! How is everything going? If you saw my last post… you might have been this coming. Fall has ended and now we’re moving to winter. Before we break out the winter boots and thick winter jackets, I thought I would post a recap of all my fall posts. Just in case you missed one here they are…

We started this collection with My Favorite Fall Color. This is one of my favorite fall dresses because of how comfy it is. It also helps that it has this beautiful open back and is my favorite color. I stayed it with my newly found statement necklace.

The next outfit was Don’t Sweater It. I love pairing orange and green together because it mimics the leaves falling. The dress and poncho make an appearance in later posts because I adore them so much.

I love this outfit because I finally broke out my suede jacket in Susie Has a Suede Tooth. I adore this tiny turtle neck dress because it is so easy to pair. I’m not someone who owns a lot of grey in their closet but this dress definitely made me reconsider.

This outfit is definitely for the cold weather! I layered piece after piece over the same orange shift dress worn earlier. I wore this outfit in Montreal and the post is called The Temperature is Dropping, But I’m Not Stopping. Check out all of the different elements in this outfit and how to layer pieces. It will definitely be helpful in the winter.

This is another Montreal outfit that I couldn’t not blog. I blended so well with the purple graffiti that I had to name this post Blending in Montreal. This is probably one of the comfiest shirts I own because of the bohemian feel to it. Obviously I had to edge up the vibe of the shirt though.

I needed to get on the Bandana Trend train, so I incorporated it into this Blair Waldrof type of outfit. Either this outfit or the next outfit is my favorite because of how effortlessly easy they are to put together.

I warned you that the poncho was going to return! This time I’m reusing a summer dress and warming it up with tights, booties, and a poncho. It is so easy to Transform a Summer Dress into Fall with the easy tips I list in the post.

With the election I had to show my patriotic colors. If you’re still upset about the out come of the election I would definitely check out For the Red, White, and Blue. If you didn’t really care about the election you should still check out this post to see this patriotic outfit.

Last but not least, the most fall outfit on my blog thus far. This outfit really incorporates all of the fall colors behind me, which is why it is called Oh My Gourd, I Love Fall. I’m definitely sad to see fall go but this post features a few reasons why you should be excited for fall.

That’s a wrap! What was your favorite fall outfit? If I had to pick between them all I think I would say the Bandana Trend because I got to wear something very unique. Let me know what you think in the comments down below.

Oh My Gourd, I Love Fall

Hello darling! My awful puns continue on! I hope you love fall as much as me because these post ideas keep coming out of my ears. I really think it is something about the fall colors that surround us that make me so happy. These pictures came out so well just because of the beautiful autumn vines I stood in front of. They made my outfit almost seem like it was glowing.

Despite the our world about to be blasted with tons and tons of icy snow, (we actually received a little bit of snow last weekend) there are some things I am looking forward to in the winter. Some things you can’t experience in any other season.

  • Hot chocolate after playing in the snow.
  • Ice skating for $4 in the center of Albany.
  • Christmas music blasting through the college walls at 2 am.
  • Ugly Christmas sweaters!
  • The first snowfall.
  • Sledding!
  • Rocking your winter jacket like it is nobody’s business.
  • Cuddling up with a blanket and Netflix.
  • Throwing on chunky scarves.
  • Mom making cookies every other day.
  • Driving around to see Christmas lights.
  • An excuse to stay in bed a little bit longer.
  • Being able to wear fuzzy socks whenever you want.
  • Basketball season starts!
  • Getting to wear tons and tons of layers.
  • Not worrying if your chapstick will melt in the car.
  • Everyone being home and merry.

I hope some of those made you the least bit excited for winter!

If not, maybe looking at my outfit of the day will help you remember how great fall has been. For this outfit, I decided to pull out the rich colors from around campus. I needed a neutral color so I picked this incredibly detailed white shirt from Marshalls. I love the mix of pleats and lace throughout this shirt because it adds so much texture to the outfit. Without this eye-catching shirt, the outfit would have been a lot duller and boring. I then threw on this camel, suede vest. I love how laid-back it makes the outfit because of how unstructured it is. I was between pairing this outfit with olive green pants or with a maroon pair I have. Both colors would have looked fabulous with this outfit because of the fall colors they both capture. Since I was going for a more earthly look, I decided to wear these olive green pants from Charlotte Russe. For shoes, these booties are from Marshalls as well. I love the taupe color mixed with the other fall colors in this outfit.

Are you incredibly heartbroken for fall to end? Do you want to cry at the thought of snow falling or you extremely excited about something in the winter? Let me know in the comments down below! At least tell me one thing you look forward to!

Transforming a Summer Dress to Fall

Hello darling! Do you hear an alarm going off in your head or home? Yes, I am repeating not only one item but two items! I wanted to show you guys how you can transform a summer dress into a fall one by adding a few items. No really! All you need is a cardigan or poncho of some sort, tights, maybe a belt, and some booties. There you go! Your summer dress is now able to be paraded off as a fall dress.

This summery striped dress is the same one I wore in the 90° weather in this post. It has quickly become one of my favorite dresses because there are so many different things you can do with a simple black and white stripe item. A stripe dress has become a necessity in styling… almost as close to a necessity as a little black dress. You can throw on different color shirts over it, mix and match patterns with polkadots, or even throw on a simple blouse.

I then threw on the same poncho I was wearing in this fall post. If you’re not a fan of the olive green, the poncho also comes in black, maroon, and beige. If it was a little chillier than it was this day you can pile on a long sleeve shirt and tie a knot at your waist. It is a layer that makes you look as if you’re wearing a skirt instead of a dress.

Since the dress isn’t form fitting, I decided to belt the poncho and dress at my waist. As a result of belting in the dress and poncho at my waist, it automatically made this outfit more put together. I then threw on a pair of sheer tights and a pair of suede J.Crew booties. Botta-Bing-botta-bang. There are so many ways where you can transform a summer dress into a fall dress with the right accessories. If you’re super careful, sometimes you can even transform it into a winter dress. That is another day though!

What are some of your favorite ways of transforming a summer dress into fall? Let me know in the comments down below.

Bandana Trend

Hello darling! How is your election day going today? It has been quite a wild ride and I’m extremely excited that it is coming to an end. I am just hoping that good comes out of this election and not bad. Hopefully the lesser of two evils will win today. For those who are not Americans, pray for us please.

When I’m not hearing incredibly awful quotes from the two candidates or doing homework, I’ve been looking outfit inspiration on Pinterest. Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of Blair Waldrof inspiration. She has such a unique, girly look that is pretty simple to copy. I decided to create a spin off of her classic, girly looks and make it edgier. Instead of wearing a girly, pussy bow blouse, I decided to wear an more modern and edgier bandana. This bandana trend started last fall and has continued into this fall. It would have been really simple to throw on a simple 18″ necklace or a huge statement necklace, but throwing on a bandana is extremely unexpected. Even though the bandana isn’t a bright color like a ruby red or a cobalt blue, the white pops against the dark hues in my outfit. Some fashion icons even tuck in the ties so it looks as if you’re wearing a choker. I decided to leave out the ties because of how close the vest is hitting my neck. I wanted to make sure you can really see the bandana.

The vest I am wearing is three years old and is from Aeropostale. The military style of this vest really makes an impact to any outfit I pair it with. I love the huge buttons and small zipper detailing on the sides. I think if you can add a vest to a fall outfit you absolutely should. It is something that really just pulls an outfit together and keeps you a little bit warmer. The black dress I am wearing is actually a shirtsleeve dress. In order to make this dress last in the cold, I snuck a black cardigan underneath my vest. I then slipped on a pair of sheer tights and headed out to explore Troy, New York.

What do you think about the bandana trend? How would you style a bandana?

Temperature is Dropping, But I’m Not Stopping

Hello darling! Happy November! November is one of my favorite months because of the lovely fall leaves. There is something about the crisp air and the crunching of leaves that really makes me feel at peace. I am thrilled when I can finally pile on more layers. I think fall style is one of the most unique things to look at because it can be created in so many different ways. All of the different elements people add are interesting to me because I can see glimpses of their personalities come out of thin air.

For this warm outfit, I decided to really pile on the layers. My base layer is this rustic orange, turtleneck dress. This beautiful color is perfect for fall because of all the different leaves it matches with.  If you want to see this dress styled in a different fall look click here. My next layer is one of my favorites. This polkadot, chambray button down is a perfect add-on for any layered outfit. Since my other layers are pretty dark I wanted to add a little bit of more definition to this outfit with the chambray top. Since it was extra cold this day, I decided to add a puffy vest underneath my favorite suede jacket.

Since there are so many different styles incorporated into this outfit (edgy, sweet, relaxed, and preppy), it makes it so unique to me. I am not really one to stick to one type of style. I really like pulling elements from many different trends because it creates something so unique to me. Since this outfit doesn’t have a million different colors it doesn’t make the outfit so overwhelming. This outfit would have come across differently if I had other colors instead the the black, blue, and orange.

What are some of your favorite layering elements? I love tucking in flannels underneath sweaters and then throwing on an edgy element on top of that preppy outfit. One of my favorite layering outfits is this one.

Blending in Montreal

Hello darling! How is your week going? The temperature is starting to drop more and more. Last week, I explored Montreal with a few friends. I talked about the actual trip here. I wanted to show you this outfit from the trip.

I’ve been really obsessed with this suede jacket so obviously I had to wear it in another post. I did wear it in my last post and just a warning I am wearing it in the next post! I adore how much it adds to any outfit. It’s dresses up a causal outfit and is so versatile.

I grabbed this American Eagle blouse at Marshalls and I love all the different colors in it. It is one of the comfiest shirts I own! I would love to pair this shirt with mustard pants because it has random mustard pieces in it. However, I think it also would work perfectly with a bright blue shirt or these amazing purple pants. Fun fact: my brothers used to sing this really weird song and it went as so “Logan pink pants porterrrrrr, Logan pink pants porterrrr” and they would continue to taunt me with it for the longest time.

As for the shoes, I’ve been wearing these J.Crew loafers for quite some time. The two tassels on each shoe is really why I’m so in love with them. I think its a perfect added texture to any outfit.

What do you think about graffiti in cities? I really enjoy them when they’re not offensive and they’re beautifully done like this one. In Portland, Maine they actually pay people to paint certain things in the street. I would love to see all of the different expressions scattered on each wall.

What Is In My Fall Bag?

Hello darling! You might have seen this bag in my earlier Lark Fest post. I’m in love with this earthy color. I’m so glad I decided to get this rich green instead of the matte black. They also had a white and black combo one. This bag is redicously perfect for fall because of its rich color and dipped texture.

I love following the “What’s in my bag” tag on WordPress! Some of the things people lug around is so fascinating to me. I’m just obsessed with finding out what people carry around in their purses… is that weird? The anticipation of finding out if they carry around a knife or a small rodent is thrilling. Okay, sadly I don’t carry around either of those things. I’m actually pretty boring when it comes to what I carry. But I figured I’d give you an update on what I’ve been lugging around because my last “What’s in my bag” was in May of 2015.

  • Pen: This pen is embarrassingly from the Saratoga Race Track. I needed to purchase a pen in order to write on one of the race books… this pen cost me $6. I’m not proud of this super expensive purchase, but now I always carry around a pen!
  • Sunglasses: These are from this random shop in New Jersey. I love the cat eye frame on my face. I feel like I’m traveling back in time when i wear them.
  • Hand sanitizer: I always purchase a bunch of these every year from Bath and Body Works. It is something you always should carry around in my opinion. This scent is one of my favorite and is called Apple Wreath.
  • Headphones: I feel like this is always a necessity. I love listening to songza so I have my headphones scattered around like a mad man.
  • Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate sea salt caramel: these are literally my weakness. When I eat this, I get the same feeling I get when I see puppies; this gooey feeling inside my heart.
  • As for these lip stains I love the pigment and this plum color for fall. This particular style of matte lipstick smells like a candy store. It isn’t very matte when you swatch it but it is matte when you apply it to your lips.
  • Nivea is my go to chapstick! I usually go for peppermint chapstick but recently fell in love with this one. I do apply this very often thought the day. I wish it lasted longer on my lips.

It wouldn’t be a purse without a few pieces of gum and a wallet! I recently have been trying to ween myself off of chewing gum and replacing them with mints. I still have this case of gum though. After I finish it, I’ll have to get a little can of Altoid mints. As for the wallet, this is from my summer bag but wanted to carry it over.

What do you carry around in your bag? I’d love to find out if you carry around something funky. Link your blog post in the comments or just let me know!

Lark Fest: OOTD

Hello darling! Did you do anything fun this past weekend? I went to the 35th annual Lark Fest in Albany. Lark Fest is this magical day that tens of thousands of people go to. Albany closes down Lark street and creates the best atmosphere for anyone to enjoy. There are all of these funky, little vendors that sell crafts, food, handmade jewelry, and clothing. Almost everyone was out this past Saturday day celebrating the idea of Lark Fest.

I made an outfit post for Her Campus last week before the event, but I wanted to show all of my lovely readers what I actually wore. If you want to check out my post on Her Campus click here. If you have never heard of Her Campus I would definitely check it out (and especially Siena College’s chapter). Girls from colleges all over the world write for this one site.

Okay, okay enough of my Her Campus promo. I finally decided to show off the off the shoulder trend. I’m in love with this little number. I’m obsessed with the way the lace scallops on my shoulders and at at the bottom of the shirt. I think it gives the shirt and extra feminine look.

Since the top is actually a crop top, I wanted to be a little bit more modest and pair it with my favorite high-waisted Mango jeans. If you don’t own a pair of Mango jeans I highly recommend it. They’re the comfiest pair of jeans I own and they stretch like a rubber band. I purchased this particular pair when I was abroad last fall. They might have other pairs that are similar to it online or in stores.

You’ve seen these shoes again and again and I can’t stop wearing them! They’re so comfy and they add another texture to any outfit. Plus, they add a fall vibe to this otherwise summery outfit.

Keeping up with adding fall elements, I decided to finally break out my fall bag! I got this radiant green bag from Kate Spade before I went back to school. I don’t think I’ve fallen in love more with a bag. I was between getting it in black or this green. I’m so happy with my decision. It’s the type of green that can go with almost everything and it still smells like beautiful leather. Yum!

As for the jewelry, I kept it pretty basic. I threw on my favorite gemstone necklace from Toyshop. I thought it went perfectly with the top because of where it hit. It it hit a little bit higher I don’t think the outfit would have flowed as nicely. I also threw on my Chole & Isabel feather bracelet (pictured here) and my  Francesca’s earrings (picture here). You may be able to see a small bit of the two rings I am wearing. I am sporting this adorable little shop in downtown Troy. I’ll have to do another post and talk about them because I have fallen very hard for their jewelry.

If you ever come to Albany you’ll need to check out Lark fest. It’s a once in a life time opportunity filled with fun. Does your hometown do anything fun like Lark fest? Could I possibly be missing out on fun events? Let me know in the commends down below.
