Fall Nail Polish Essentials

Fine, I give up. I’m obsessed with painting my nails. Everyone has their little tick and this one is mine. I can picture my roommates and close friends fist pumping in the air like John Bender in the Breakfast Club. I finally admitted it. For those who don’t know, I paint my nails on average 2-3 times a week… sometimes more depending how stressed I am. I admit, its a pretty sick obsession. As soon as I see one little chip of nail polish that just doesn’t look quite alright… the rest of the polish will come off. I mean, I never said I was perfect.

As a result of my sick obsession, you can be sure that I’m always on the hunt for a good polish. I’m normally a strict OPI girl, but after one shade from Essie caught my eye I decided to expand my horizon. CVS was having a great deal at the time that was buy three get one free. Normally, I’d just shop through TJ.Maxx or Marshall’s and find a discounted polish, but I was itching for a splurge session.

After picking up multiple nail polishes and putting them back, I decided on Petal Pushers, Winning Streak, Angora Cardi, and Barre with Me. I would love to meet the person who designs names for nail polishes. If you’re ever lacking inspiration for an Instagram caption go to the OPI or Essie website for some inspiration. Trust me, they’re literal geniuses.

Petal Pushers: If you’re not getting the biker gang vibe from the name just picture yourself wearing this color riding a bike through crisp, fallen leaves. Okay, so maybe I’m the only one that thinks that kind of stuff when I buy nail polish but whatever. This color is great due to being a lighter version of an otherwise dark color.

Winning Streak: This color is my cup of tea. I’m a big fan of rich, dark colors like this one. It is the perfect mix of purple and grey to create this eery color perfect for Halloween.

Angora Cardi: This is my go to if I’m going for something a little daring on my nails. I’m not a huge fan of bright red colors on my nails because my nails so tiny, but I love this mix of purple, grey, and pink. It’s bold enough to say “oh, hello” but calm enough to be like yeah-please-leave-me-alone. My kind of polish.

Barre with Me: The name on this one got me because I recently tried barre and it was the definition of d-i-s-a-s-t-e-r. During the routine, I felt like I was going to die and I was sore for days later. Regardless of the near death experience, I fell in love with this color. I normally don’t go for light colors but this color was the perfect mix of nudes and feminine pinks. I’ve been wearing this color the most out of the four.

What colors are you rocking this fall? Let me know in the comments down below.

Nail Polishes I Use All Year Long

Hello darlings! I want to share some of my favorite nail polishes. I typically use these all throughout the year. I love dark hues so all my other nail polishes are pretty much always dark blues, reds, or browns. However, sometimes when I’m feeling girly I’ll wear these light beige colors. Enjoy this goofy video. When taking the pictures for this video, I squatted the entire time… I hope you’re impressed.

Starting with the top left and going all the way around:

Salon Pro by Rimmel London (421 Clearly Clear). I recently bought this one actually because I was running out of the nail polish below. I really, really, really like the brush of this particular nail polish because it is flat. It’s so easy to use and the consistency of this nail polish is more watery than the second clear coat I list. Since it is more watery it dries faster and easier. Kind of a win win.

Hard as Nails by Sally Hansen (100 Invisible). Like I said earlier this particular nail polish brand is a little bit thicker and goopier than the others. However, I do like this brand a lot because I feel like the nail polish is harder to peel and chip off. I tend to pick at my nail polish quite frequently so thats why I like this brand so much.

Revlon Parfumerie (Bordeaux). I love this color and this brand. I would probably buy every single color. But if you thin the nail polish actually smells then you’re going to be sadly mistaken. I mean it does smell different from other nail polish but it definitely does not smell like perfume. However, this color is my favorite of the bunch.

Nuance by Salma Hayek (Prickly Pear). I’m actually surprised I didn’t put more of this brand in this video/picture because I love this brand. The only sad part is that they don’t have many colors. But look how cute the bottle is and the brush is flat like the Rimmel London clear coat… so naturally I’m in love.

Color club (Baldwin Blues). If you love this color then I’m really sorry to say I have no idea where you can purchase this. Most of the nail polishes on this list you can get at a CVS but I don’t even know how I came in to the possession of this nail polish. But it has become one of my favorite colors of the summer. Sorry for the let down… hopefully you didn’t catch the Baldwin blues… ha ha.

OPI in some colors I have no idea what the names are. My brother’s girlfriend gave me these two colors for Christmas and I love them. They’re such an uplifting color. I actually have to go to Sephora to get more of these colors because I’m running dangerously low.

Fresh Paint in Passion Fruit. Now that I’m reading the name of this color I’m really quite upset. Passion fruit is not lavender… shame on the person who created the name. However, this nail polish was found at 5 below so obviously the guy who is getting paid to think of ‘creative’ names for this nail polish probably doesn’t really find that much excitement at his job. Oh well. Still a SWEET color.

Maybelline Color Show (Neutral Statement) and (Gilded Rose).  I paired these two together because I always wear them together. If you need some awesome in your life I highly recommend you get some Gilded Rose in your life and paint everything you see in it because it’s the prettiest darn color. I talked about it in my December post that I was wearing it all the time… yeah, it is still an obsession.

And last but not least,

Salon Pro by Rimmel London (Soul Session). It has the same brush that I’m obsessed with in the clear coat… what a surprise! Also these two nail polishes have Avec which basically is some word that means that it will dry faster than other nail polishes. I mean how cool is that? Also this color is basically the same as Neutral Statement because I was running low on it and wanted to try something new… and look I fell in love woohoo.

Okay before you put your nose in the air, yes, these nail polishes are from the dollar store. Who cares? I’m not going to spend the Sephora price for design nail polish. Waste. It’s pretty much the same exact thing anyway. So if yo wanna be smart about your money like myself (ha) then go to 5 below and get these awesome polishes. 5 for $5 can you get it any better?

Before I let you go back to your life, I thought I’d let you in on a little secret about me. I’m obsessed with nail polishes with funny/good names. It’s really the only reason I get nail polishes from OPI. Like I don’t care if the color looks like wet throw up… I’m probably going to get it if the name makes me laugh. If you’re every incredibly bored of if you friends dragged you unto a make up store… just go to the nail polish section and read the names… Oh goodness I sound like a crazy person. Well… in case you’re worried I don’t read the dictionary for fun… I do have a word of the day app…….

Join the conversation: what are your go to colors? Do you awkwardly read the labels of the nail polish?

P.s. if you can guess how many pictures are in the video I’d be super duper impressed.

December Favorites

Nail Polish

First Row from left to right:

  • Revlon Parfumerie in the color Bordeaux. I know these perfumes are supposed to smell good, but it really does not smell like anything other than nail polish. I really love how well this color shows up on the nails its a very bright and rich color.
  • Maybelline Color Show in the color Gilded Rose.
  • Maybelline Color Show in the color Neutral Statement. In the month of December, I used these two Maybelline colors to the extreme. I typically put the gold color on my ring fingers and the neutral colors on the rest of the fingers. It makes your nails look so polished and clean. Clearly one of my favorites.
  • Nuance Salma Hayek in the color Prickly Pear. This has always been one of my favorite colors because of the brand. I don’t know how Salma Hayek does it but this brand of nail polish always is perfect. I honestly barely even need to put two coats on my nails because it glides on so well.

Bottom row was a gift from my brother’s girlfriend, Heather. I have no idea what the colors are called but I love how vibrant the three of these are. My favorite one is the middle one, which is currently on my nails.

I finally did it! I finally gained enough courage and bought a Kate Spade bag. I was deciding between this bag, Cassie, and the Southport Avenue Carmen. I’m so happy with my choice. This bag is so perfect for what I wanted. I needed a bag that I can put on my shoulder and can also hold with just my hand. Since I always cary a water bottle, I needed something durable to withstand that weight and big enough to hold it. Thats why I picked this bag. The bag originally sold for $335, but I actually got it for $93.50! It was 60% off and then an extra 30% off because my friend’s mom works at the store. I’ve never been happier with my first real bag.

This candle, Cinnamon Caramel Swirl, is from Bath and Body Works and it is by far one of the most heavenly smells I have smelt. Before you even light the candle, the whole room smells of Cinnamon, which happens to be one of my favorite aromas. Definitely a smell you need to stop by and enjoy. Plus look how cute the lid is!

I’ve heard a lot of mixed reviews of the Clinique Take the Day Off makeup remover so I decided to to try it out. And let me tell you, it works wonders. I was breaking out pretty bad at a school so I needed something to help me fix my skin. I received this present when I came home, so I’m not quite sure if my skin started to clear up because I was finally home or because of this product. However, it did clear up my skin and it didn’t dry it out like normal products do to my skin. Definitely recommended.

I received these pearls by the Honora Collection from my parents for my birthday. I love pearls because of how classic they look. These pearls are a little bit different from most pearl earrings because they come with what Honora calls “Happy Backs”. The backs are more secure and comfortable than other backs because they’re slightly bigger.

I received the Miss Dior perfume for christmas and it smells exactly like my perfume… well in my mind. Miss Dior created this perfume for an, “elegant and spirited young woman in love. She personifies the spontaneous joie de vivre of today’s young women, representing a particular type of freedom and seduction. The fragrance is characterised by an instant and captivating charm.” I couldn’t agree more. This perfume reminds me of someone just becoming an adult but not quite there. Personally, I can’t read descriptions and smell the perfume so if you’re really curious take a trip to Macy’s. When you buy this perfume you actually get a cute little leather bag filled with extra samples and a little Macy’s mirror.

This beautiful Burnish Angel Wing necklace is from Rob. It’s handmade in Alaska and I think thats the coolest thing ever. He often calls me his angel, hint at the wings. He wrote a letter that came with the necklace, which plays a big part of why I love this present so much. I’ve been wearing it practically every day since I received it.IMG_0556

I am officially obsessed with this delicious Perrier sparkling water. It has a hint of grapefruit so it’s not just drinking carbonated water and let me tell you… I found heaven. I’ve drank 10 of these just today. But no worries, its just water so no calories like soda. I love squeezing lemon into it so it gets a little bit more flavor. Plus lemon is great for your skin and your liver so its a win win.
