Girl, Stop Taking Life So Seriously

This week I’m flying to Virginia to give a speech in front of my company. I’ve been rehearsing my speech again and again. I honestly feel like I was transported back to my speech classes in college. Then it hit me – I was creating this grand speech that wasn’t going to connect to anyone. I simply taking it too seriously. I know that sounds funny because the speech is for my job but in order for speeches to be good you need people to actually listen. For people to listen, it requires an lighthearted, fun speech.

After I rewrote some of my speech, I realized I am taking so many things in my life too seriously. Read on to find out how I’m trying to lighten up.

I’ve Been Taking Blogging Way Too Seriously Lately

For the past month or so, I’ve been taking blogging so seriously when it was supposed to be about having fun. I mean it is about having fun. For some reason, I’ve been finding myself stressing on what to talk about and whether or not people are going to read it. In realty, I need to remind myself that I’m not blogging just for you but also for myself. I love going back and reading posts about what I did and how I was feeling over certain circumstances. I really need to stop worrying about views and start having fun again. That means posting blog posts even when I feel like they aren’t “perfect”. That means posting funny pictures. That means posting things even though I know they aren’t going to perform nearly as well (I’m talking to you Instagram).

I’ve Been Stressing Over the Littlest Things

Since I moved to the city, friends and family have been visiting me nonstop. I love having everyone over and showing them around but I need to remember that it’s okay if things don’t go perfectly. Instead of being the over-planner that I am, I need to try and go with the flow. Sometimes you have more fun that way.

My Workout Routine is Getting Messed Up

When I found out I was going to be work in Manhattan, I immediately looked up if there was an Orangetheory close to me. I was delighted to find out one was going to be opening up three blocks from my office is. After emailing them, I found out that they expected to open the studio in the end of spring. Three months go by and they have yet to open. I’m still anxiously waiting for the studio to open but instead of thinking of this as a negative I need to remind myself that it’s an opportunity to try new gyms and walk around the city.

If You Feel Like You’re in the Same Boat…

If you feel like you’re in the same boat as me – first off, yay that I’m not the only one. Secondly, we need a second to stop what we’re doing and look at why we are so stressed. Are you planning too much and get stressed when things don’t go the right way? Are you forgetting to have fun? Are you extra stressed because you don’t have a way to release that stress? The first step is figuring out where your stress is coming from and the second is trying to figure out how you can fix it.

Are you finding yourself getting the case of summer stress? How do you cope with it? Let me know in the comments down below.

As always,
