How I Got My Smile Wedding Guest Ready + Giveaway

These are my own words on how I got my smile wedding guest ready. 

In two weeks, you’re going to be bombarded with amazing pictures from Lake George and my cousin’s beautiful wedding (make sure you follow along with that here). My family rented a house that is equipped with kayaks and fun activities… the best part? My entire family will all be together… including my brother who is flying in from Arkansas. I literally feel like a little kid on Christmas.

Since last year’s summer barn wedding was so much fun, I knew I wanted to get all dolled up again. With that said, I really wanted to make sure my pearly whites were looking their finest before the big wedding, so when Smile Brilliant contacted me and asked if I could review their teeth whitening kit… I said hells to the yeah… well, I tried to be more professional than that at least.  

A little background on my obsession with teeth…

When I was in fourth grade, I had braces and ended up having a mouth full of metal for six years. Yes, you read that right. I had all the wonderful colored bands that matched all my outfits and those stupid little brushes that you push through the metal wires. When the big day came to take off my braces, I really couldn’t hold my excitement. I remember telling everyone in my class “today is the day” like the huge nerd I was. When my teeth were finally released from their shackles, I was happier than can be… finally, I can chew gum in peace. Although the braces were a pain in the butt, it was a cruel lesson that I should really care about my teeth because good-looking teeth are something that are hard to come by.

How does the custom fitting work?

Since I had braces and constantly had to do molds for my teeth, this part was a piece of cake… and even a little fun. The box comes with three catalysts and three pastes (two to actually use and one if you mess up… or just want to have fun).  You then mix them together and place the putty inside a blue tray. Once the putty is placed in the tray, you press the blue tray in your mouth for three minutes. I’m not going to lie, those three minutes are uncomfortable but you’ll get through it. Play your favorite song, dance a little, and it’ll be over before you know it. You then repeat the same steps for your bottom tray. Lastly, you fill out a form, place the trays in an adorable pink envelope, and say buh-bye. You’ll get your custom trays in about a week and then you’re ready to start whitening your pearly whites.

Does it work well with sensitive teeth and gums? 

With all of the poking and prodding over the years, my gums have always been a little sensitive. My biggest fear of trying Smile Brilliant’s kit was that I would try it out once or twice and my gums would punish me for trying to make my smile brighter. I can happily say that my biggest fear did not happen. When you use whitening strips it can actually strip the enamel because you are bleaching the tooth. Instead of strips, Smile Brilliant’s tray method tries to bring back your teeth to their natural color. I carefully read the directions and only put the tray on 45 minutes my first time and slowly worked myself up to an hour and a half by my second syringe. You do feel a slight tingle on your gums but nothing that is overbearing. The only hard part about whitening my teeth was not being able to drink water for an hour and a half.

How many treatments do you receive? 

You receive four syringes of whitening gel and four syringes of desensitizing gels. Each syringe comes with 3-4 uses so once you’re done applying the gel you put a little cap on top of the syringe. I was pleasantly surprised by how much product they provide you in the kit.

Would I do it again?

Oh absolutely! I’m becoming a huge iced chai fanatic and I’m worried my pearly whites are going to tell everyone about my sick addiction. If I start to show signs of my delicious addiction I’ll be sure to order more syringes especially since I’m going to need to be wedding guest ready again in August. Plus, the process was so easy. I just plopped them in, worked on a blog post, and went to bed. It was such an easy method to work into my day-to-day routine.
