Get the Scoop: My First Natural Spray Tan
A few weeks ago you might have seen on my Instagram that I received a spray tan at Bronze Effects. Melissa was kind enough to talk me through my first experience and show me how everything works. So what do you need to know about getting a natural spray tan? Read on to find out…

A little background on the Bronze Effects studio:
Bronze Effects is located in East Windsor When you first go into the studio you’ll see an adorable waiting area and a natural cosmetic area. Not only does the studio focus on Natural spray tans, but they also offer chemical peels, lash lifts, eyebrow shaping & waxing, eyelash extensions, microdermabrasions, facials, and brow & lash tints. This is the perfect spot to get pampered and feel like the ultimate q-u-e-e-n.
What do you wear when you go spray tanning?
This was one of the first questions I asked Melissa and she told me to bring loose, dark clothes that I wouldn’t mind getting a little messy. However, she also explained that if I opt for the luxury finishing powder, I could wear anything I would like and not risk the tan rubbing off on my clothes. My clothes were not ruined by the spray. When you are spray tanning you can wear dark underwear and bra or go topless. Melissa explained that 90% of girls go topless and wear a dark colored thong. It is really what you are most comfortable with. Don’t feel awkward if you want to wear more or less clothing!

How long does the process take?
The process takes about 10-15 minutes and then you have to let the product sit for a select amount of time. The setting time depends on how tan you want it. I kept it on for four hours but you can also keep it on for two or three. Since I wanted the darkest tan, I went with the fullest amount of time. You will also look darker within the next 12-24 hours as the solution sinks into your skin more.
How long will it last?
The tan will last longer depending on how moisturized your skin is. Before the session, exfoliate your body to prepare for the tan. Moisturize at least a week before so your skin is well hydrated and not flakey. The spray tan has been lasting 5 -6 days for me, but I also have very dry legs and arms. On average, sunless tans last 5-10 days depending on your skin type and your pre and post prep.
How tan will I turn and will I turn orange?
How
Would I do it again?
I’ve actually gone once more after my first rodeo. A quick spray tan is perfect before a big event like a wedding, graduation, or a blog photo shoot. I can see myself going again before a photo shoot in the winter. Also, Melissa is the sweetest woman I’ve ever met. We’ve been talking about starting up her own blog so definitely check her out here.

I was so nervous before I went, but you really just need a studio that will talk you through it. It’s definitely fun looking tan for a few days!

Great post, wished I lived close, so that I could take advantage of the other services she offers, like the microdermabrasion 😄
