12 Skin Products I’ve Been Obsessing Over (and 7 I Hate)

This post has definitely been long overdue, but I need to give high fives and claps to some of these awesome beauty companies. All of the products mentioned are cruelty-free and 100% my opinion. I’m not a beauty expert in any way shape or form, but these are the things that have been working for my skin and daily make up routine.

Day Cream | Night Cream |AHA Tonic | Cleansing Gel

Ren – Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream

After my face completely broke out after using Drunk Elephant (more on that below), I went back to using Ren’s day cream and a few other products. Within a week and a half, my skin started to clear up dramatically. I now use Ren’s Day Cream, Daily AHA Tonic, Gentle Cleansing Gel, and Night Cream. Not only has my skin cleared up but I’m noticing a big difference in my skin’s tone and coloration. I highly, highly recommend anything Ren. I’ve actually been thinking about getting their eye cream and new sunscreen for a while now.

Growth Serum | Mascara

GrandeLASH™ – MD Lash Enhancing Serum

This serum was actually the reason I wanted to write this post. Back in December, I was getting really insecure about how short my lashes were. I think it was about the same time I realized everyone and their mother were getting eyelash extensions. Since I was desperate, I figured why not try a growth serum… what do I have to lose? Oh. My. God. I’ve been telling anyone who will listen to buy this product because it actually works! Before I go to bed, I put a faint line of the serum on like eyeliner and in a few months, my lashes started to grow. Don’t take my word for it look at my own before and after pictures!

Too Faced – Better than Sex Mascara

While I was using the serum, I started to use this Too Faced mascara and I’m hooked. It makes my eyes look enormous and doesn’t leave pesky flakes all over my face. I recently tried the waterproof version and am not loving it as much. It does not give me nearly as much volume as the non-water proof version. Although, I do think the waterproof version will be perfect for casual beach days.

Palette | Concealer | Foundation

Tarte – Tartelette in Bloom

I’ve had this eyeshadow palette for about two years and I’ve started to hit pan on a few different shadows. For those who have never bought a Tarte palette, they smell like chocolate happiness. This particular palette is made of Amazon clay and is incredibly easy to blend. The earthy colors have been my go-to for the past two years so I might actually pick up another palette once the shadows are completely gone.

Tarte – Shape Tape

I think this is my fourth or fifth bottle that I’ve finished and I’m still a huge fan of Tarte’s shape tape. I suffer from really dark under eye circles and this is the only thing that has been able to hide them. If you’re looking for a full coverage concealer this is the best one on the market.

BareMinerals – BarePro Pounder Foundation

I believe this is my third empty but it continues to be a staple in my life. I’m not someone who likes thick makeup on my face. With this powder, I can simply swipe it on my face and I’m good to go. It isn’t very long lasting and doesn’t offer a ton of coverage but it’s good for me.

Oil | Dry Shampoo

MoroccanOil – Treatment

This is my second bottle of the Moroccanoil treatment and I love everything about it. If your hair ever gets flyaways or just looks super dry and dull, this is the product for you. My hairdresser, Joanne, showed me this and I love the smell and feel of it.

Drybar – Dry Shampoo

I saw Dress up Buttercup talk about this on her instastories and I immediately placed in order. She is literally the queen of gorgeous hair so I figured why not give it a trick. Oh. My. God. She wasn’t kidding. I admit it’s a little pricy for a dry shampoo but this stuff works so well that it is worth it. When you do spray it on at night you will look like a grandma, but when you wake up your hair looks fresh and ready to go. Plus, it doesn’t have one of those nauseating smells most dry shampoos have. It’s very light and airy.

Products I Haven’t Been Able to Finish/Don’t Recommend

MoroccanOil – Shampoo and Conditioner

Since I love the smell and feel of the treatment oil, I thought I would love the shampoo and conditioner. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The shampoo tangled my hair so badly and then I had to fix it with the conditioner. Although they smell amazing, I felt like I was wasting my money with such an expensive shampoo and conditioner set. Back to the drawing board…

Drunk Elephant – Minis

I know what you’re thinking. Everyone loves Drunk Elephant so this girl must be crazy. I am so sad to report that Drunk Elephant was my skin’s worst nightmare. I have never broke out so badly with a product. My entire forehead and eyebrow line was covered in acne. At first, I thought I just needed to wait it out because of all the chemicals in my other products. After a month and a half, I gave up. I’m not someone who normally suffers with really bad acne so that fact that this made me break out so badly was a really bad sign to me. It may work for some, but it definitely did not work for me. (Secretly happy about it because it costs an arm and a leg).

Tarte – Make Magic Happen

Since I love Tarte’s other palette, I thought I would love any. Tarte’s Make Magic Happen does not blend well at the colors are very muted compared to the Tarte in Bloom. Whenever I use this palette it is because I’m forcing myself to use it.
