Use Your Voice & Vote

I got some tea for you and it involves a date with a piece of paper in less than two weeks. You got that right… the good ole’ election that has been popping up on your screen ever-single-day. Here is just another friendly reminder to make sure your voice is heard… and heard l-o-u-d-l-y. The best way to get your voice heard? Get out there and vote.

I’ve been on a little bit of a blogging hiatus (seriously, I haven’t blogged since July), because I seriously needed a mental break with everything that has been going on in our world. Well, here I am back with my keyboard shooting off some encouragement that we all need to get out there and cast our ballots… because that really matters.

Know the Issues

It seems like in this election cycle every single topic is hard hitting and could cause a meltdown at any second. The ones in particular I’ve been paying the most attention to is the environment, race inequality, and coronavirus. If you haven’t watched the debates, I highly recommend looking at some of the articles I’ve included at the bottom of this post. They’ll give you a pretty good picture of what each candidate has said about the environment as well as the bills they have supported and denied. That way before you vote you’ll be informed on everything. An educated voter is a good voter.

Check What is on Your Ballot

In New Jersey, I’ll be voting for the president, House, Senate, as well as three questions regarding legalizing marijuana, property tax deduction and exception for peacetime veterans, and a constitutional amendment to change the legislative redistricting schedule if the census data is delayed due to covid. A source that has been really helpful for looking up all this information has been vote411.org. This site will help you check your registration status as well as give you some information about what you’re going to see on your ballot. That way you can do some research before you vote.

Check Your Sources

It’s 2020 and one of the biggest buzz words seems to be fake news. Ugh, I’m too busy rolling my eyes to look at this dang screen. But, as annoying as it is… fake news is something that we do need to be weary of. Take some time off your social media and blogs (yes, I said it!) and focus your time looking at reputable new organizations. More importantly – look at them all so you can get a full picture of the candidates you’re voting for.

Dazey LA

While we’re out here supporting things we care about, I just wanted to pop in here and say this awesome “Use Your Voice & Vote” shirt is from Dazey LA. I’ve been following them for a few years now and finally decided to buy two shirts and a few masks. All their clothes are 100% made in the USA and made out of a 100% cotton. They make their clothes to order to eliminate waste so orders typically take a few weeks in order to be shipped out. Don’t worry though, they’re completely worth the wait. The amount of compliments I’ve received on my two masks is unreal. Plus this shirt reaches a new level of comfy. So if you’re looking for a good graphic tee from a small business owner check them out.
