Our Apartment Living Room Tour

The time has offically come to where I can share our New Jersey living room on the interwebs! I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long and I’m so happy it is finally here! So without futher ado, here is the inside scoop on our living room.

Homey Touches

Humidifier: A few weeks ago I showed off my new found obsession with essential oils. No worries, that obsession hasn’t slowed down in the slightest. I almost threw a party when Rob told me that our apartment smelt like a fancy hotel, score!

Books: I ended up putting a few display books at the bottom of this side table and underneath our table. I eventually think a basket would look great underneath the table but for now I love the way my favorite books look stacked up.

Dried flowers: This summer I ended up getting fresh lavender from the lavender fields in Long Island. I then cut a few hydrangeas from my parent’s garden and stuck a few white ones from a bush around the corner… whoops. I love how the flowers create a put together feeling and they look great near my old DIY dream catcher. I also have dried cattails by the tv (I made Rob pull over on the side of the road so I could take a few like a crazy person).

Pictures: we have so many pictures spread our apartment that it is hard to keep track. For example, every time someone new comes into our apartment we take a Polaroid and put it on the fridge. I love seeing the collage grow. We have a picture of Courtney, Mickey, and me on the side picture and a small Polaroid picture in the cactus frame.

Wall Art

After looking at Melissa’s bedroom tour post, I decided a floating shelf would look perfect in our living room. I ended up messaging her and asking where she bought this exact shelf. Since our apartment has plaster walls, we needed a contractor to hang the shelf. Five months later and we finally have a shelf to celebrate! I had so much fun looking for artwork online. I eventually ended up purchasing the beYOUtiful picture from Dazey La and the rest from Desenio. I really like Desenio because they have a million prints to choose from and you can shop by color palette. Dazy LA is also really cool because all of the artwork is made in small batches by independent artists.

Spooky Decorations

I get the decorating gene from my mother. As I said in a post last week, every holiday is a super big deal for us. I found simple decorations on Amazon and decorated a little bit around the apartment. This little skeleton is by far one of my favorite Amazon purchases to date. I admit, I was a little nervous that I was going to get a life size skeleton and not know what to do with it. Thankfully, I was lucky and received a small skelton.

Furniture

Sectional: The one thing I really wanted to create on this room was an opportunity for people to hang out and talk. The sectional was the perfect way to create that environment because there are so many places people can sit. It’s also dangerously comfy- I’ve fallen asleep watching Netflix or a movie more times than I can count.

Gold chair: We moved into the apartment around the same time Courtney’s parents were downsizing. As a result, they gave us a few great pieces of furniture. This gold chair is one of the pieces and it looks so cozy with the blanket and pillows. The pillows and blanket is the perfect way to tie the gold couch in with the grey sectional.

Small Tables: My Dad and I talked about what should to between those two windows for the longest time. We eventually found this adorable table at IKEA that would look great. Next to the sectional there is another table from IKEA to hold a girly lamp (I have the same lamp in my bedroom).
